HHS – A Catholic Woman’s Perspective

This video of Gloria Purvis speaking shows the HHS Mandate of contraception, sterilization, and abortion inducing drugs from a woman's perspective and points out how demeaning the mandate is to a woman's dignity.

The video has fantastic points that should be discussed and emphasiszed when addressing the HHS Mandate. Please comment sharing what stood out to your or whatever your thoughts might be.

It's interesting how towards the beginning she mentions that people see everyone's problems as being fixed by surgery. People think that surgery can change anything they want. Surgery is meant to put things in body so that they function properly, not change them completely.

I like the way Ms. Purvis is talking about how advocating for free birth control, abortion, sterilization furthers the idea that women are a commodity. I have tried to talk to 20-somethings about how it is not right to "use" a person, how each person has value in his/her existence. When I say the word "use" they just don't seem to get it. I think I am going to start saying "commodity" instead. Women are not free if they are altering their gift of reproductive function in order to let their bodies be neutered and become a commodity for sex.
